Student & Family Ministry Leaders

These mentors are humble, effective student ministry leaders (or former student ministry leaders) from our Church Forward network.

They have served faithfully with character and impact over time. Each one is excited and ready to share their time, hearts and experience with you.

To make the most of your strategic mentor connection, we encourage you to do the following before you make your first call.

  • Review the purpose and approach of strategic mentoring on the “About” page of this website. Strategic mentoring is NOT long-term mentoring but rather a strategic conversation around your current challenge or question.
  • Prepare your thoughts & questions using the Mentee reflection questions found in the “Resource” section.
Then, by all means, chose a mentor and make your call!

Current Ministry Role: Student Pastor (7th Grade - College Sophomores). Yrs. in ministry: 3 years Previous Ministry roles.

Hi, I am Josh Gordon.  I grew up in church and gave my life to Christ in 4th grade. The discipleship I recieved was the minimal until getting connected to the BCM in college, where I experienced a lot of growth and encouragement.  When i graduated College with a crop and soil science degree in 2016, I pursued a career as a crop consultant.  I quickly started attending my current churh and volunteering with the 5th and 6th graders for two years.  When i married my wife, she wante to help with the 7th and 8th graders, sowe moved up.  Another two years went by and God called me into the full time Youth Pastor role in January of 2020.  My job description is 3/4 youth and 1/4 something I am spiritually passionate about.  Never did I think you could be "spirtually passionate" about livestream, but I found myself constructing the livesteam setup that first year on the job.  The 1/4 of my time transitioned to college ministry in the fall of 2022.  God has donean amazing job building relationships without me even realizingit.  Some of the 6th graders that I first started volunteering with are now freshman at the local community college where we host a Tuesday evening Bible study.

My wife and I met at the BCM, which was great for us to build our relatioship on God and friendship.  We got married in 2017 and God blessed us with two children.  One was born in 2021 and our second is due in 2024. Being a dad and a husband is what most of my free time is spent on.  We do like being outside as a family, so we do find ourselves going camping and fishing when we get the oppurtunity.
